Canon USA Inc. has introduced two new memory configurations for both its CFX-L4000 facsimile system and its CFX-L4500 IF laser multifunction systems. With an initial storage capacity of more than four times its previous configuration, the CFX-L4000 is available with 42 pages of memory standard. With more than triple initial storage capacity, the CFX-L4500 IF laser multifunction system is available with 138 pages of memory standard.
At the heart of the five-in-one multifunction CFX-L4500 IF is Canon's MultiPASS Desktop Manager 2.0 for Windows software which is compatible with Windows 95 and Windows 3.1X. Software provides point-and-click access to laser printing, PC-faxing, scanning, and telephone functions, while also giving users capability to program the fax machine's settings from the PC. In addition, printing and faxing can be executed from any Windows application.
A 14.4 Kbps modem dispatches faxes at approximately six seconds per page, while Ultra High Quality VI Image Enhancement and Ultra-Smoothing produce, the company says, superior image quality. Full Dual Access feature allows users to scan documents into memory, make copies, program or print reports even while transmitting or receiving a fax from memory, or allow another user to scan another document into memory.
The CFX-L4500 IF also offers one-touch speed dialing to up to 20 locations, coded speed dialing to 100 locations, and group dialing to 119 groups, as well as sequential broadcast capabilities to up to 121 locations.
The CFX-L4000 has capability to scan up to 8 pages per minute and transmit a document in approximately six seconds per page via its 14.4 Kbps modem. Unit also has automatic page re-transmit to continue transmission of remaining pages in the event of line failure during transmission, and the capability to prevent junk faxes and unauthorized receptions.
