World butyl rubber supply could get dicey next decade if Chinese demand grows as expected. The material is used to make tire inner tubes and electrical cable sheathing. Beijing-based market analysts see Chinese demand quadrupling to 60,000 metric tons/year by 2001 and annual production rising from zero to just 30,000 tonnes.
