AMD is looking to IBM for help in manufacturing its K6 processors. AMD has been unable to meet production targets for the K6, which competes with Intel's Pentium II chip. Analysts say yields of the K6 have been low. AMD and IBM have agreed to a two-year deal in which Big Blue will co-produce the K6 at its Vermont fab. Production will start in the third quarter.
