Delta Airlines has promoted Udo Rieder to the position of vice president, purchasing. Rieder joined Delta in July 1996 as general manager of technical operations purchasing. He was promoted to managing director of purchasing in 1997. He has eleven years of purchasing and engineering experience with Bell Helicopter Textron and American Airlines. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.
