Connector tags head up
By James Carbone -- Purchasing, 5/21/1998
Average prices for U.S.-made connectors are heading up at roughly the same rate as manufacturing costs. Average prices increased 0.34% in the 12 months that ended in March. During the same time, connector manufacturing costs increased about 0.30%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Most of that increase was due to labor costs in the connector industry which rose 4.1% in March, says cost analysis firm Thinking Cap Solutions. Direct labor costs account for about 23% of the industry's total costs.
