Not only has Compaq cut prices on some of its Deskpro products by 11%, it also is providing buyers who purchase certain models with free color monitors. At the same time, its financial-services arm, Compaq Capital Corp., has a new trade-in program that provides credits to corporate buyers who trade in certain non-Compaq servers and workstations toward the purchase of a new Compaq server or workstation. In addition, Compaq Capital offers new 4.9% financing on purchases or leases of new notebooks, desktops, workstations, and servers.
