Expect stiff competition to depress capacitor tags for most of the year. Maunufacurers are fighting to maintain market share, which means that price cutting is inevitable. Also expect to see more surface-mount capacitors. The capacitor market will grow from $8.2 billion to 13.2 million in the year 2000, says market researcher Frost & Sullivan.
