Watch for more steel industry mergers in North America and Europe in coming months, especially between strong mills and those struggling financially because of high imports, excess capacity in niche markets, or bloated (typically, unionized) work forces. Market analysts suggest most combinations will be between sheet-oriented integrated mills and bar-producing mini-mills.
