Purchasing Notes

By Susan Avery -- Purchasing, 11/5/1998

Office Depot and Boise Cascade Office Products were among the suppliers on hand at the Internet Commerce Expo in Los Angeles recently to demonstrate use of the Open Buying on the Internet (OBI) standard. Other companies involved include American Express, connect Inc., IBM, Intellisys, Microsoft, and Netscape. While the standard has garnered support throughout the industry, the OBI Action Showcase was the first large-scale public demo of electronic commerce systems that use its blueprint and architecture. The December 10 issue of Purchasing will have more on use of systems which operate under the standard to purchase office supplies.
