Pitney Bowes showcases new products at mailcom
By Susan Avery -- Purchasing, 11/5/1998
Pitney Bowes showcased new products at the 1998 mailcom global conference. Among them:* To its addressright systems line the company added the W650 envelope printer. When linked with Pitney Bowes' SmartMailer for Windows 95 software, the W650 produces accurate addresses, eliminates duplicates, and prints the delivery-point bar codes that enable mailers to qualify for postal discounts.
* The AccuTrac HT mail management system is a Windows NT-based system which interfaces with a company's host computer, so mailing operations can be integrated with the rest of the business. To be launched nationally June 1, AccuTrac HT captures and consolidates all mailing and shipping data from central and remote sites (by modem). By providing good information, Accutrac HT enables good business decisions for all mailing and shipping applications enterprisewide.
* The 5000 Series mail sorting system uses an advanced OCR system to read virtually every type font and size. The system then prints the Delivery Point Bar Code necessary to qualify for postal discounts, so high-volume mailers can reduce their postal costs. The 5000 Series is available in a single-level system with up to 145 bins, and a space-saving multilevel system with up to 252 bins. Modular and upgradeable, the 5000 Series sorters handle First-Class and Standard class mail, client accounting, VAR, and multiple postage payment methods. The sorters are pave, cass, FastForward, and postnet certified.
