Purchasing pros salute their top suppliers

In this special issue of Purchasing Magazine, we give purchasing professionals the opportunity to pay tribute to their very best suppliers.Top suppliers often provide value that purchasing professionals overlook. But as the buyer/seller relationship has evolved over time, more and more companies have realized that world-class suppliers can provide a major competitive advantage. And purchasing executives are spending more of their time and resources to acknowledge the contributions of their top suppliers, and to spur the rest of their supply base to strive toward top-level status.
Annual supplier awards are one way that purchasers reward their best suppliers. These programs have potential value that far transcends the simple fact of recognition. Winning a "best in class" supplier award from a respected purchasing operation can lead to new customers and more business for the supplier. Suppliers often become stronger and better through this process, and all customers can benefit from a stronger supplier.
In the pages that follow, some companies have taken the opportunity to publicly recognize their best suppliers. We congratulate the suppliers that have won awards this year, and we also commend the purchasing groups that have realized it's in their best interest to publicly recognize and reward their top suppliers.
