Capacity Changes

By Staff -- Purchasing, 12/10/1998

Praxair started up a carbon dioxide production facility at Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, in November. The plant is expected to produce up to 110 tons/day of carbon dioxide by recovering and purifying carbon dioxide produced as a by-product at a nearby Sun Oil production facility. This will be the first non-fermentation-based carbon dioxide facility in Puerto Rico and will produce FDA-certified gas for U.S. pharmaceutical use, as well as 'ingredient grade' for beverage manufacturers.
