Gary F. Swartz has been appointed vice president of procurement for the North American operations of Rolls-Royce, a manufacturer of aero engines. Swartz will lead procurement ac-tivity in North America. He was formerly vice president at Outboard Marine Corp., and spent 22 years in supply management at John Deere.

James R. Booth has been named vice president of supply management for Gateway, the South Dakota-based computer manufacturer. Booth was most recently vice president of IBM's worldwide materials, storage systems and network hardware division, where he managed all aspects of materials and procurement. He has over thirty-years experience in materials and procurement. He will be responsible for managing the company's global supply management organization.

Jeffrey P. Wincel returns to Holland, Mich.--based automotive supplier Donnelly Corp. after a year absence. As vice president of corporate procurement and materials, he will be directly responsible for North American purchasing, and set strategic direction for purchasing at Donnelly worldwide. Wincel has over 12 years of automotive industry experience, most recently as director of purchasing for TRW's restraint systems group. He holds a BA in labor relations and an MBA in materials and logistics management from Michigan State University.

David Solomon has been named source manager for the nutritional products business of Ashland Chemical. Solomon will be responsible for sourcing raw materials and managing the operations group. He previously served as general manager for Whole Herb Co., and holds a degree in business from Brooklands Technical College, U.K.

Tracy Skinner has been appointed procurement manager at the Newbury Park, Calif., facility of Smtek, a supplier of design, manufacturing, and end-of-life services for OEM electronic manufacturers. She will be responsible for management of suppliers and the entire procurement team at Newbury Park.
