Anticipate PC life cycles and plan new purchases accordingly. New research from Dataquest shows corporate buyers want to purchase desktop PCs with longer life cycles because supporting multiple configurations rather than a standardized environment increases costs. While computer OEMs respond that they can guarantee PC lines will be available for a specific time, it's component consistency that varies. OEMs say they try to keep compatibility issues to a minimum and that they notify buyers of changes before making them.
