Cobalt NiCd cell has 50% more energy density

By Staff -- Purchasing, 1/14/1999

Sanyo has developed a new nickel-cadmium battery that uses a cobalt compound to deliver 50% more energy density.

The battery is targeted at the power-tool market. It can be charged and discharged 1,000 times and operates well in harsh environments. The cell can be stored for up to five years. Although aimed at the power-tools market, it can be used in other applications that have high voltage and high discharge requirements.
