Marshall Smitherman has been named to the new position of vice president of purchasing for Gold Kist, an Atlanta, Georgia-based poultry processor. He will be responsible for all purchasing activities, including feed ingredients, capital equipment, and supplies. Smitherman was previously vice president of the company's cotton division and holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Auburn University.
