CORPORATE CHANGES
By Staff -- Purchasing, 3/11/1999
General Chemical will spin off its manufacturing units and performance chemicals from its industrial chemicals group. The spin off, expected to take place in March, will result in a new company called GenTek which will manufacture highly engineered components and systems for the auto industry, plus a broad range of performance chemicals for markets including pharmaceuticals, personal care, and water treatment. General Chemical will continue to own and operate its industrial chemicals business, including soda ash and calcium chloride production.
