Xerox copier does ledger-size copies in a flash

Xerox has introduced a new high-performance copier equipped with such advanced features as book binding and speedy ledger-size copying.

The Xerox 5885 departmental copier operates at 85 ppm for 8.5 x 11 in. paper, and 66 ppm for 11 x 17 in. paper, which the company says is at least 10% faster than the nearest competitive model in the 80 to 90 ppm market. The 5885 also can be outfitted with an advanced finishing accessory that creates perfect-bound books inline without manual intervention.

The 5885 is the fourth new departmental copier introduced by Xerox since mid-1997. More new departmental offerings are expected within the next year, say company executives.

The new copier also extends the Xerox commitment to digital remote service technology. Like other members of the company's departmental copier family, the new model includes Xerox Sixth Sense, an advanced system that uses leading-edge communications technology and specially developed software to enable rapid diagnosis and resolution of equipment service needs.
