Cap tags drop
By Staff -- Purchasing, 4/22/1999
U.S.-based manufacturers of electronic capacitors are enjoying a respite from rising costs. Direct manufacturing costs among U.S. capacitor producers fell 0.35% in the 12-month period ending February 1999, according to Thinking Cap Solutions. The trend projects future cost declines ahead too. Falling metals as well as declines in heat and power costs are fueling the industry's current cost-structure enhancements. Producers are in need of this cost drop because the prices for their products continue to drop even faster. The average product price in the capacitor industry declined 1.82% in the 12 months ending February 1999.
