PRICE INCREASES

Effective December 1, General Chemical, Parsippany, N.J., raised off-schedule prices for all grades of sulfuric acid by $5/ton (100% basis). The price increase includes all materials manufactured and shipped from the company's Washington plant and terminals, according to a company press release.Effective December 1, PPG Industries, Pittsburgh, Pa., raised prices by $50/ton for chlorine. The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., has also announced a $50/ton off-list selling price increase on chlorine sold in the U.S., effective immediately to all spot market customers, and as contract terms permit.
Effective January 1, The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., is raising its off-list prices in North America for mono- and di-propylene glycol products by 4¢/lb, or as contracts permit. The price increase is applicable to the following products: propylene glycol (industrial grade), propylene glycol (USP grade), dipropylene glycol (regular grade), and dipropylene glycol (low-odor grade).
Effective January 1, Eastman Chemical, Co., Kingsport, Tenn., is raising off-list prices of all forms of Eastman NPG glycol in North America by 10%. The company reports that prices have been reduced significantly over the past 18 months. This, coupled with higher raw materials costs, has prompted the increase, which, according to the company, is necessary to bring prices to more historical levels.
Effective January 1, Albemarle Corp., Baton Rouge, La., is raising its European prices of aluminum alkyl products by 6%-10%, depending on product grades and as contracts permit, according to a company spokesperson.
Effective January 1, Pilot Chemical Co., Red Bank, N.J., is raising the price of its trademarked Aristonate line of synthetic petroleum sulfonates used for emulsification and corrosion inhibition in industrial lubricant formulations. All commercial grades of Aristonate neutral products (L,L-LF, M, M-LF, H, H-LF, VH and MME-60) will increases by 5¢/lb. Acid products will increase by 7¢/lb where applicable.
Effective January 1, Huron Tech Corp., Delco, N.C., is increasing its price of sodium chlorate for all spot transactions and as contract terms permit, by $25/ton in the U.S., and by $30/metric tonne in Canada. The company cites significant demand increases as its rational for the price hike.
Effective January 1, Condea Vista Co., Houston, Texas, has announced a 3¢/lb price increase on all grades of linear alkyl benzene. The increase reflects continued tight supply of normal paraffin feedstocks, the company says.
