price changes

By Staff -- Purchasing, 6/1/2000

Effective June 1, Dow Plastics, a division of The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., is increasing its prices for Vydynew nylon resins by 12¢/lb. The increase, for all customers in North America, is consistent with the company's European price initiative and reflects rising raw material costs, according to a company source.

Effective May 15, UCB Chemical Corp., Smyrna, Ga., raised prices of all products by 6%. UCB Chemical manufactures a variety of chemicals used in ultraviolet curing markets. The company attributes the price increases to rising raw material costs.

Effective May 15, Ruco Polymers, a manufacturer of polyester powder resins, polyester polyols, polyurethanes and specialty polymers, based in Hicksville, N.Y., raised contract and spot market prices of all grades of its RucoteTpolyester powder resins by 2¢/lb. The price increase comes as a result of increased raw material cost, according to the company.

Effective May 1, LaRoche Industries Inc., based in Atlanta, Ga., raised the price of ammonia sold in less-than-truckload (LTL) quantities by $30/ton. The company points to higher shipping, handling and storage costs for small-volume items as the reason for the price increase.

Air Liquide America, Houston, Texas, has raised the prices of its industrial gas products by 6% to 10% or more, depending on regional supply and delivery considerations.

The price increases affect oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and helium in bulk and cylinder forms used by customer in the industrial, medical, electronics and specialty gas markets.
