Crompton Corp., Greenwich, Conn., is in preliminary discussions with a select group of strategic buyers for the sale of its Industrial Specialties business, which produces and markets surfactants for the agriculture, oilfield, emulsion polymerization, and household, institutional & personal care markets. The business reported 1999 sales of more than $160 million.
The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., has signed an application development and distribution agreement with Entec Polymers Inc., Maitland, Fla., and Prime Alliance, Des Moines, Iowa, to manufacture Questra polymers for the automotive and electrical markets.
Phillips Petroleum Corp., Bartlesville, Okla., recently sold its polyethylene compounding business to American Thermoplastics Corp., based in White Plains, N.Y. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
United Plastics Group Inc., Westmont, Ill., a manufacturer of plastic products for the electronics, medical, consumer and industrial markets, recently acquired OR Plastics Inc., based in Brooksville, Fla. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
