Empire Resources, a distributor of value-added, semi-finished aluminum products, announced creation of an e-commerce Web site-called 4MET-ALS.COM-for the sale of aluminum and other metals that will provide a natural adjunct to the company's basic business. 4METALS.COM will be live within the next few weeks to accept orders for many popular alloys of aluminum sheet, plate and extrusions. Empire anticipates a three-day delivery from its own stock, initially to East Coast customers. Minimum order quantity will be 4,000 lb, and typical orders are expected to be in the $5,000-$25,000 range. Initially, the Web site will offer only aluminum products. The selection is expected soon to include stainless steel, copper and brass products of popular alloys and gauges.

PackagingPrice.com announced the launch of its Internet-based sales Web site, designed to provide businesses significant cost savings and superior customer service on all their packaging purchases. The site offers small to midrange businesses and purchasing professionals at larger companies more than 3000 stock items, including corrugated boxes of all sizes, shrink wrap and packing tape. It also offers an unlimited number of custom-order products. In most cases, the site claims that small and midrange customers will find 15%-20% savings that its closest competitors serving this market segment.

Invensys Intelligent Automation (IA) says online buyers can now share shopping baskets electronically at its iastore.com (www.iastore.com). The feature, called TeamBuy allows a shopping basket to be created and passed on from person to person across a customer's organization. The capability is designed to match the specific select-approve-and order process that involves several people in a customer's organization. With more than 250K part numbers, iastore.com provides a broad selection of industrial automation systems, software and services.

FiltersRx.com, offering industrial, commercial and residential re-placement air filters, is launching a Web site selling direct to building and maintenance engineers, independent service contractors, purchasing agents, HVACR installers, contractors, technicians, and more. Bypassing traditional distribution channels, FiltersRx.com says it passes cost savings on to the replacement filter buyer. Open twenty-four hours, seven days per week, there is no minimum order.
