PartMiner launches excess service

PartMiner says it has begun a new online service to help OEMs and contract manufacturers manage their excess inventories.
The Excess Trade Zone (XTZ) will partner with large OEMs and contract manufacturers in an effort to resell excess board-level components. XTZ handles all of a manufacturer's excess inventories.
Excess inventories are often the result of forecast inaccuracy, design changes, contract cancellation, technological advances, and new product development. Often buyers sell excess inventories to independent distributors or through online auction sites or other Web market-maker services.
"Typically, an OEM or contract manufacturer will see pennies back from every dollar they spend on components," says Pat Romich, president of PartMiner's XTZ business. "We aim to put more money back in consignors' hands and guarantee quality-assured, available components for buyers."
XTZ will take physical possession of all excess inventory where it is inspected and quality-sealed so the buying customer has the assurance that they will receive what they ordered.
XTZ will manage and market excess inventory by leveraging its integration with the Free Trade Zone, PartMiner's online marketplace. In addition to a standalone catalog and auction site, XTZ inventories will be posted on the Free Trade Zone's shopping agent and will be a significant supply source for PartMiner Direct, its market-maker service.
