VerticalZOOM releases Top 100 Net marketplace list

Net market makers often pitch themselves on the notion that they alleviate traditional market fragmentation, matching buyers and sellers that wouldn't otherwise meet and generating intelligence about market supply, demand and pricing where none had been available previously. Problem is that explosive proliferation of Net markets over the past 18 months has created its own breed of fragmentation, one that companies such as Verticalzoom, a unit of Simplica Corp., are now looking to resolve.
Verticalzoom bills itself as "a portal designed to help purchasing organizations find and use online procurement sources." As such, it has taken on the task of "critically reviewing 2000 aspiring, global e-commerce suppliers," using its own direct queries plus electronic surveys asking purchasing professionals to evaluate various Web buying sites for quality, breadth and depth of offerings, product information, ease of ordering, customer service and delivery.
