Xerox unveils DocuColor for corporate workgroups

By Staff -- Purchasing, 3/22/2001

Xerox Corp. has introduced the DocuColor 2006 printer/ copier, which boasts six pages/copies per minute in color and 26 ppm/cpm in black-and-white.

With the DocuColor 2006, users can achieve "brilliant image quality through 8-bit color depth for higher image quality over a broader range of colors." The copier/printer also sports color management tools that support color press profiles. It has extensive calibration features such as automatic density control, and VisualCal for visual calibration. In addition, the DocuColor 2006 has a new toner formulation and fusing process that "delivers sharper images and superior detail on copies and prints."

"With the versatility offered by the DocuColor 2006, image-intensive users will find it delivers professional quality color prints and copies with effortless operation," says Gerry Perkel, president, Xerox Office Printing Business.

The DocuColor 2006 helps meet printing and copying demands of high-performance graphics users and color-intensive office workgroups with "exceptional media handling" of page sizes up to 13 x 18 in and two-sided printing on higher configurations. Document Set printing allows the DocuColor 2006 to process multiple prints only once, dramatically decreasing the time needed to print large volumes. In addition, the DocuColor 2006 has an input capacity of 1,400 sheets standard and an optional 10-bin sorter, allowing for uninterrupted completion of short-run projects, as well as PDF direct printing, letting users print directly to the printer without opening the document.

The DocuColor 2006 comes equipped with copying features that are said to be easy to control and allow the user to select paper size and copying options right from the front panel. In addition, with an easy-to-use Automatic Document Feeder that instantly senses document size and the ability to produce up to 99 copies per job, the DocuColor 2006 allows graphics professionals more efficient use of their time.

With memory expandable to 512MB, a built-in 6GB hard drive and a 266-MHz processor, the DocuColor 2006 is network ready with standard 10/100 Base-T-Ethernet, parallel connectivity, and Web-based network management tools.

The DocuColor 2006 comes with the Xerox Total Satisfaction Guarantee. The company also offers toll-free customer support at 877-DO-COLOR and www.xerox.com/officeprinting.
