The FMCSA might allow teens to drive tractor-trailers
Amid concerns about a national truck-driver shortage, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is considering a proposal to allow 18-to-20-year-olds to operate tractor-trailers.
Low container prices make owning a viable alternative to leasing
Recently, leasing companies have been imposing new restrictions on where ship lines can return boxes. After bottoming out in 1999, manufacturers' prices for the containers remain very low and many shippers are taking the bait. Leasing companies in Baltimore, Chicago and Charleston are expected to begin closing depots.
