Hewlett-Packard adds monitors to PC line

By Staff -- Purchasing, 5/20/1999

Hewlett-Packard has expanded two of its monitor lines. The additions include an 18-in. LCD-display model in a compact design and a new 19-in. monitor.

The new models are designed for use with corporate and business PCs, such as the new HP Vectra PCs, HP Brio PCs, and HP Kayak PC workstations.

"HP offers a monitor to suit all customer needs, from high-performance to budget models," says Arlette Gubert, product line manager of Accessories and Monitors for HP's Business Desktop Division.

The HP L1800 LCD monitor has a 160-degree wide-viewing angle and 18-in. display. This, along with reduced screen flicker and antiglare coating are designed to improve user comfort. For ease of positioning, the monitor is available without its base for mounting on an articulated are or on a wall.

The sleek, flat-panel design takes up a quarter of the space of a conventional monitor. The HP L1800 LCD monitor weighs in at 19.2 lb, about half the weight of a conventional monitor with the same viewable screen dimensions.

"Auto-setup" makes installation of the monitor quick and easy, automatically adjusting the screen image for clarity. "With active-matrix technology and excellent contrast ratio and brightness, the HP L1800 LCD monitor delivers," according to the company, "brilliant image quality with sharp text and colorful graphics."

The HP 90 19-in. value monitor features crisp, bright, high-contrast images with low screen glare. This monitor has a viewable display area of 18 in. and digital controls that allow the user to adapt image size and positioning.

Dynamic-focus technology delivers screen clarity. To provide a stable, flicker-free image, the HP 90 is optimized for resolutions of up to 1,024 x 768 at 85Hz, with a maximum resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 at 75Hz.
