Avnet has launched a new division that integrates its acquisition of Marshall Industries into Avnet's marketing group. Avnet Marshall was launched and is designed to provide one-stop shopping for electronics purchasers, says Lori Hartman, executive vice president of the new brand.Avnet Marshall distributes the world's leading brands of semiconductors, interconnect, passive and electromechanical components to original equipment manufacturers and contract manufacturers. Buyers can expect Avnet Marshall to use many Web-based applications, including the establishment of an intuitive, standalone interface at the front-end; real-time status updates throughout the location and shipping stages; and extra support through final delivery. As a result, buyers can expect immediate online order status and a streamlined purchasing process that eliminates slowdowns and redundant costs.
"We believe that incorporating the knowledge, creativity and passion that Marshall brings into Avnet's already strong IT practices will result in a robust e-commerce emphasis providing unparalleled speed, availability, convenience and simplicity to our customers," says Steve Church, president of the Electronics Marketing Group. "E-business is the future. Companies that capitalize on the Internet by making it easy to do business online, who use it efficiently and creatively, will emerge as the highest value providers."
The new Avnet Marshall has over $1.3 billion of on-hand inventory and $2.5 billion in the pipeline, representing over 200 manufacturers and 120 commodities. "That translates into simplified one-stop shopping for a complete bill of materials, saving customers time, money and effort," says Hartman.
