Tyco Electronics has authorized passives specialist distributor TTI to carry the entire line of AMP connectors.Tyco franchised TTI to carry all of its AMP products because of ongoing consolidation in electronics distribution and Tyco's desire to maintain a proper mix of distributors in North America in order to ensure customer coverage and market penetration. "Our future growth depends on having an efficient channel structure and one that complements Tyco Electronics' continually expanding scope," says Ray Horner, director, distributor sales and marketing.
Mike Morton, senior vice president of product marketing for TTI, says that expansion allows TTI to offer buyers a complete interconnect solution from the largest connector maker in the world.
Tyco Electronics says it is continuing to evaluate its current roster of distributors.
Tyco also announced it has added the Potter and Brumfield relay product line to its roster of components. Tyco acquired the Potter and Brumfield line when it acquired the former Siemens Electronics Components division.
All relay operations, including engineering, manufacturing and marketing, are being integrated into Tyco Electronics. General-purpose relay operations will be centered in the company's Winston-Salem, N.C., facilities. P&B's current roster of manufacturer representatives and distributors will continue to handle sales of the product line.
