Price increase, sheet steel

Despite spot-market softness, sheet steel makers plan to boost asking prices by $25/ton next month. This action comes in spite of difficult and not totally successful attempts to boost sales prices last quarter by $20/ton. Latest spot market put hot-rolled at $270/ton (compared to $250 in January); cold-rolled at $380 (from $360); and coated sheet at $420 (from $410).
