Market outlook, synthetic lubricants
By Staff -- Purchasing, 7/15/1999
Demand for synthetic lubes and greases is expected to double to 1.78 million metric tons/year over the next decade, according to Hewin International. Still, this will represent only 3.5% of the total world market for lubricants. Synthetic lubes and greases are made from polyalphaolefins, dibasic acid esters, neopolyol esters, polyalkylene glycols, phosphate esters, dialkylbenzenes, polybutenes, and a host of specialty silicone and fluoro compounds.
