Market forecast, cybershopping

By Staff -- Purchasing, 7/15/1999

Online sales are expected to increase to $18 billion this year, up from $8 billion in 1998, but only 5.75% of consumers who visit e-commerce Web sites actually make purchases, according to a poll by Net Effect, a British Internet consultant. In fact, 67% of attempted consumer and commercial purchases are not completed due to a lack of real-time customer service and support by the e-commerce sites.
