Fidelity investments, the Boston-based mutual fund company, hired Exelon Management & Consulting as its resource for energy procurement and energy management strategies. Exelon will provide Fidelity with energy supply management services, including rate negotiations, fuel mix optimization, and comprehensive energy strategies for all Fidelity facilities in three states. Exelon has worked closely with Fidelity over the past year to save energy costs at a 600,000 sq ft customer service center, and will work with Fidelity Corporate Real Estate to examine the energy needs at other Fidelity facilities. Efforts will include helping to optimize the fuel mix at each facility, working with Fidelity and regional suppliers to reduce electricity, fuel oil, and natural gas transportation rates, and identifying strategic solutions for each facility's back-up generators, including selling electricity back to regional power grids.
