PRICE INCREASES

Effective July 28, Dow Chemical increased off-list prices of liquid chlorine by $40/ton, not to exceed a current list price of $255/ton, fob Freeport, Texas, or Plaquemine, La., buyer absorbs freight. Effective August 10, Dow Chemical increased off-list selling prices for all grades of caustic soda by $25/dry short ton. This was followed by another increase of $35/short ton, effective immediately or as contracts permit. Effective September 1, Dow increased off-list price of ethylene glycol (antifreeze grade) by 4¢/lb for all North American customers.

Effective August 19, Sterling Pulp Chemicals boosted the price of sodium chlorate by $20/ton in the U.S., and $CAN30/tonne in Canada.

Effective October 1, Degussa-Huls Corp. raised off-list prices for all grades of hydrogen peroxide by 3¢/lb (100% basis) in the U.S. and $CAN100/tonne (100% basis).

Effective August 11, Eka Chemicals reduced the discount on sodium chlorate by $20/ton in the U.S., and $CAN30/tonne in Canada. List pricing for drummed product will increase 1¢/lb in the U.S., and CAN3¢/kilo in Canada. The list price increase is effective October 1. On August 11, Eka also boosted tags for hydrogen peroxide by $60/ton (100% basis) in the US and $CAN100/tonne (100% basis) in Canada.

Effective August 1, General Chemical boosted off-schedule prices for all grades of sulfuric acid by $5/ton (100% basis). This applies to shipments made from the company's Richmond, Calif. plant.
