PRICE INCREASES

Effective October 1, Kemira Pigments increased North American prices for all anatase and rutile grades of titanium dioxide pigments by 5¢/lb for greater-than-truckload amounts and 8¢/lb for less-than-truckload amounts. Paper-grade prices remain at current levels. Prices for pigments sold in Canada rose CAN7¢/lb on September 15.

Effective November 1, Pilot Chemical increased the prices for several surfactant products. Twenty to 60% active alkylbenzene sulfonate products rose by 1¢/lb. Ninety-five to 99% alkylbenzene sulfonic acids rose by 2¢/lb. Eighty-five to 90% alkylbenzene sulfonate dry products rose by 3¢/lb. Forty percent alpha olefin sulfonate products rose by 1.5¢/lb. In addition, 30% alcohol (ether) sulfates rose by 1.5¢/lb. Sixty to 70% alcohol (ether) sulfates rose by 3¢/lb. All blends and performance concentrates rose by 1¢/lb.

Effective October 15, Dow Plastics boosted North American prices for Magnum acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resins by 7¢/lb. Tyril styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) resins increased 5¢/lb.

Effective October 1, Dow Chemical raised off-list North American prices for ethylene glycol by 5¢/lb on the following products: Industrial grade, antifreeze grade, fiber grade, low conductivity grade, diethylene glycol (regular and resin grades), and triethylene glycol.

Effective October 1, JLM Marketing increased all subnormal prices, including those governed by contract (where allowed) on all acetone products by 3¢/lb, not to exceed the list price of 39¢/lb. As well, the company implemented an 80% sales allocation program on September 1st.

Effective October 1, Union Carbide Corp's ucar Emulsion Systems business increased prices on all acrylic, styrene acrylic and NeoCAR polymers for industrial coatings, architectural coatings and adhesives and sealants markets. The price of a typical 50% solids product rose 2¢/lb, with the increase ranging from 2¢/lb to 3¢/lb depending on polymer composition.

Effective September 1, National Starch and Chemical increased prices for select pressure sensitive adhesives by approximately 3%-5%. The increase affected waterborne acrylics, solvent-borne acrylics, and other pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Effective October 1, Church & Dwight boosted off-list North American pricing for all USP and food grades of Arm&Hammer brand sodium bicarbonate by 1¢/lb. Pricing will not exceed the current list price. Off-list pricing for all non-USP/food grades of sodium bicarbonate will increase by 0.5¢/lb.
