Lexmark expands laser printer line

By Staff -- Purchasing, 11/4/1999

Lexmark has introduced six new monochrome laser printers, ranging in speeds from 12 to 35 ppm. They include:

- Optra M410, a 12 ppm networkable laser printer for desktops and small workgroups. Developed for a host of applications, this new printer is said to be easy to use and has "outstanding print quality."

- Optra T610, a 15 ppm laser printer for workgroups with moderate print volumes.

- Optra T612, a 20 ppm printer designed to optimize productivity. The product delivers a first page in nine seconds.

- Optra T614, a high-volume, 25 ppm laser printer with flexibility to perform a range of printing applications.

- Optra T616, a space-saving, 35 ppm laser printer for high-volume, high-performance printing.

- Optra W810, a wide-format 35 ppm laser printer with finishing capability for high-volume, multiuser network environments.

The printers offer a variety of configurations. They share common options and supplies, including a new 25K high yield print cartridge. New productivity-increasing options for most models include a 5-bin mailbox and a 1,850-sheet high-capacity output stacker.

"We spend a lot of time talking to customers, and they say they need laser printers that are fast, versatile, and consistently reliable," says John Mitchell, corporate vice president and president of Lexmark's business printer division.

The new printers are available in network-ready models, with standard Ethernet 10BaseT/100BaseTX, and they offer broad and flexible paper handling.

Specific features help to lower operation costs. Toner settings and power saver mode are resident, as is capability to print multiple pages on a single sheet, and duplexing is available.

Lexmark printers are said to be easy to install, use, and manage, which also helps lower costs--of training support personnel. Printers are compatible with major network environments and include PostScript Level 3 and PCl 6 emulations for compatibility with major software applications so there's no need to purchase additional hardware or software to get these capabilities.
