Hitachi Koki Imaging Solutions introduces connectable copiers

By Staff -- Purchasing, 11/4/1999

Hitachi Koki Imaging Solutions has introduced two new network connectable Segment four digital copiers--the DDC 52n and the DDC 62n. These DDC-n series copiers represent two "firsts" for Hitachi. They are the printer company's first copier-based multifunction products and they are the first Hitachi-brand copiers to be distributed on a worldwide basis.

Over the past year, Hitachi Koki Imaging Solutions has been building its product line to include both printer and copier-centric multifunction products. The company expects to have a full range of networkable digital copiers to complement its DDS series network printers.

Standard features and options include: "scan once print many" technology; trayless automatic duplexing; and image rotation, which helps to ensure maximum copying efficiency regardless of the orientation of the original document.

In addition, the DDC 52n and 62n offer a variety of accessories common to both copiers: the professional finisher provides booklet making, center creasing, z-folding, hole punching, and multiposition stapling. The high-capacity feeder holds up to 3,000 sheets of paper and is compatible with A4, B5, letter, and legal sizes. For digitally enabled features such as number/image stamping and job multitasking, Hitachi offers an optional hard disk drive kit, which also increases the page memory of the DDC 52/62n to 500 pages. Finally, for users who do not require all the features enabled by the HDD kit but who still require more memory, Hitachi offers the optional 16MB memory, which expands page memory to 400 pages.

Printer connectivity is provided by the optional EFI Fiery X2 print controller. Featuring a 200MHz processor, the X2 is capable of powering the DDC 52n and 62n at their rated speeds of 52 PPM, respectively. The X2 supports TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and Apple Talk protocols with standard Ethernet 10/100 Base T connections, as well as both PCL 5e as well as Adobe PostScript 3 page description languages. Token Ring connectivity is optional.
