Federal-Mogul, the world's largest engine-seals maker, will close its Milan, Mich., gasket plant and transfer production to plants in Athens, Ala.; Van Wert, Ohio; and Summerton, South Carolina...Teikoku Piston Ring of Japan and Federal-Mogul are establishing joint-venture company Federal-Mogul TP Liners in Lake City, Minn., to manufacture cylinder liners for aluminum engine blocks for automakers. The plant is expected to start casting alloy steel cylinder liners in September 2000...Uniroyal Technology of Sarasota, Fla., has acquired Happel Marine of Rockledge, Fla., which makes custom marine products such as plastic entry systems, windscreens, cabinets, and doors. Uniroyal's ViPlex subsidiary fabricates acrylic sheet for marine applications...Durakon Industries of Lapeer, Mich., the world's No. 1 maker of pickup-truck bedliners, is being acquired by private investment fund Littlejohn & Co. of Greenwich, Conn. for $99 million in cash. Durakon also makes tow trucks at its five plants in the U.S. and Mexico. Its 1998 revenue was $192.3 million.
