Distributor-suggested copier saves the day for customer

Industrial purchasing professionals often call on distributors to help them solve a problem. Such was the case when City Mortgage Corp., a major lending institution in Anchorage, Alaska, was having trouble handling ever-increasing demand for documents.City Mortgage's shipping department prepared 10 to 12 loan packages each day. Each package consists of 100 pages. "We needed a copying machine that could print both landscape and portrait and copy many documents of different sizes really fast," says Inge Lentfer, vice president, shipping. "Lending packages have to be perfect, or investors won't even consider purchasing them."
Alaskan Office Source, a local distributor of office equipment, has been supplying City Mortgage with copiers and fax machines since 1995. Marcuc Weiner, Alaskan Machine's manager, recommended to City Mortgage the fastest copier that Toshiba makes, the 9060. The copier has a wide document feeder and imaging system, which enables it to copy legal documents up to 90 copies per minute. With a 7,500 sheet-storing capacity, the model 9060 can copy up to a quarter million documents each month.
With the 9060, City Mortgage has increased productivity substantially. "Our shipping department has increased copy speed," says Lentfer, "and thanks to the storage capacity, we're adding paper much less frequently than we used to."
