What's Hot

By David Hannon, News and Transportation Editor -- Purchasing, 12/13/2001

"It ain't over 'til it's over." Joe Torre's cap said it all. The New York Yankees manager donned the cap all through the playoffs as a symbol of the comeback spirit that his team embodied after overcoming Sept. 11 to make it to the World Series, battling and struggling to the bottom of the ninth in game seven.

Unfortunately, the transportation and logistics industry has not been as successful in overcoming Sept. 11. Serious jams persist at border crossings between Ontario and Michigan, slowing production in the U.S. auto industry, for one. Recently, representatives from the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers' Association spoke before a congressional delegation to help identify problematic border crossings and suggest new customs prescreenings prior to crossing for low-risk or repeat travelers.

Just one example of how the capitalistic and democratic spirit of this country that was attacked on Sept. 11 will put this industry—and this country—back on track.
