Leadtimes are mixed

Electronics leadtimes were mixed in March with deliveries stretching for 23 of the 41 components tracked by PURCHASING magazine. Leadtimes for 19 were reported shrinking, and one remained the same.
Few leadtimes stretched for more than a week, according to PURCHASING's monthly leadtime survey, although there were some exceptions: 256-kilobit SRAM leads stretched from 6.1 weeks in February to 8.1 weeks in March; CMOS logic delivery times moved out to 8.2 weeks from 5.3 weeks in March.
While fewer component leadtimes shrunk, many of those that did fall dropped back by two or more weeks. Example: 32-megabit flash memory fell to 6.9 weeks in March after averaging 10.6 weeks in February. Nickel metal hydride batteries delivery times fell from 5.3 weeks in February to 3.1 weeks. Lithium-ion cells dropped from 4.6 weeks to 2.9 weeks, and nickel cadmium batteries from 4.7 weeks to 3.3 weeks. The average leadtime for a carbon film resistor fell to 3.8 weeks in March from 6.4 weeks in February. Wirewound resistor delivery times dropped from 6.4 weeks to 3.8 weeks.
