ATS Automation Tooling Systems said it achieved better first-quarter profits and is on track to reach $2 million in annual savings from better procurement. Klaus Woerner, president and CEO of the company said in its quarterly statement, "We've identified potential new Asian suppliers and are on track towards our goal of achieving $2 million in annualized cost savings from better global procurement. Our initiative to rationalize contracts with unacceptable earnings by seeking pricing increases is progressing."
As previously announced, paper and package giant Greif went ahead with a strategic sourcing initiative in the third quarter to "more effectively leverage its global spending and lay the foundation for a world-class sourcing and supply chain capability," according to a company statement.
