- Ferguson Integrated Systems division has a new onsite operation at Williams International in Ogden, Utah. The Integrated Systems division provides customized MRO and indirect material supply chain integration and inventory management systems. Williams International develops, manufactures and supports small gas turbine engines for the aviation and industrial markets. The Ferguson team will source, procure and manage inventories at multiple replenish points throughout the customer facility.
- Airgas has completed its 10th and 11th acquisition since its fiscal year began last April 1. The nation's largest distributor of packaged gases and related supplies has acquired the assets and operation of DC Welding in Sacramento, Calif., and Watt Welding Supply, an industrial gas and welding supply distributor with three locations south of Portland, Ore.
- Strategic Distribution Inc., a provider of MRO supply chain management services, has relocated its corporate headquarters from Bensalem, Pa. to Bristol, Pa. in order to better serve the needs of its customers and employees. SDI now occupies an 18,000 sq. ft. office space at Island View Crossing along the banks of the Delaware River. The new site allows SDI to have all its corporate employees in one office space rather than have them spread out across several disparate offices, as was the case previously. In addition, the new space better serves customers through centralized procurement and inventory management services.
- PURCHASING's newest book, MRO Purchasing Best Practices, is now available through the magazine's bookstore at www.purchasing.com. The reference guide, which is a compilation of stories written over the past three years, has sections on industrial distribution, integrated supply, strategic sourcing, e-procurement and purchasing cards. Included are stories on the MRO buying operations at Siemens, Saturn, Harley-Davidson, Boeing and Deere.
