MRO essentials from 3M

Staff -- Purchasing, 3/3/2005

Labeled by 3M as a product line that is essential to industrial maintenance and repair professionals and easy-to-use, 3M's MRO Essentials products are designed to help keep facilities cleaner, make equipment last longer, and reduce customers' cost of ownership.

Products included in the line are either new to the market or are considered category leaders. Just one example: 3M Maintenance Folded Sorbents can absorb spills, drips, leaks or splashes in a variety of configurations and, with perforations every 16 inches, can be torn off to the desired length for clean up.

Whether for labeling electrical wire, repairing cracks in concrete, attaching instructional labels to equipment or for general facility maintenance, 3M has designed the products, says Colleen Foster, business manager for 3M Industrial Business, "to help reduce the bottom line, improve MRO processes and protect worker safety."

The 3M MRO Essentials include: abrasives (3M Utility Cloth, Sheets and Rolls and Scotch-Brite Bristle Brush) and adhesives (3M Concrete Maintenance and Repair Adhesives, 3M Pronto Instant Adhesives CA 40 and CA40H, 3M Scotch-Grip Plastic Adhesive 4693H, 3M Scotch-Grip Rubber & Gasket Adhesive 1300 and 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Adhesive).

The line also includes: cleaners (3M Citrus Base Cleaner, 3M Gum Remover and 3M SharpShooter Extra-Strength No-Rinse Cleaner), electrical products (3M ScotchCode Wire Marker Tape Dispenser), health and safety items (3M Maintenance Folded Sorbents, 3M Vinyl Tapes) and tapes (3M Duct Tape 3900 and 3M Masking Tapes 231, 234 and 2307).

The company plans to add products at a later date to solve other common maintenance and repair problems, such as lubrication, fire protection and floor matting needs.
