Allied ships catalog

Allied Electronics has released its 2006 catalog featuring over 1,984 pages of electronic and electromechanical products from more than 300 manufacturers. The latest catalog lists 135,000 products within 30 sections, all in stock and available for same-day shipping. It has almost 20,000 new products. The catalog also includes a completely redesigned semiconductor section with a complete index by technology for quick reference.

NEDA speaker announced

Morgan Stanley analyst Mark Edelstone will speak on the long-term future of the semiconductor industry at the annual National Electronic Distributors Association (NEDA) Executive Conference next month. He will discuss the health of the industry and trends on the horizon. Edelstone has been recognized by Institutional Investor magazine for his research coverage of the semiconductor industry for the past nine years. Attendees will learn how the investment community views the electronic distribution industry. The conference for the electronics industry will be held at the Renaissance Chicago Hotel on November 6-8, 2005.

Jaco gets order

Jaco Electronics, a distributor and integrator of electronic components and flat-panel solutions, will supply 300 15-in. flat panel voting machines that will be used by Cook County. Ill. Jaco receive the order from Sequoia Voting Systems. Additionally, Sequoia has awarded Jaco with a contract to design and manufacture 10 preproduction "full face" voting machines. Each of these units includes four 19-in. touchscreen displays. These voting machines will be offered in jurisdictions where the complete ballot needs to be presented on a single page. Jaco Chairman and CEO Joel Girsky says the order will be handled by Jaco's display solutions group which has a new 20,000 sq. ft. engineering and integration center for flat panel display solutions such as voting machines.

Appointments made

Arrow Electronics has appointed Bhawnesh Mathur to senior vice president and chief supply chain officer. Mathur will be responsible for integrating and establishing strategy and leading business performance in supplier marketing, asset management, global supply chain solutions, global logistics and environmental solutions. He will report to William E. Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of Arrow Electronics.

Jan Salsgiver, vice president, global strategy and operations, has been named executive vice president, Arrow Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America (EMEASA), reporting to Germano Fanelli, president, Arrow EMEASA. She will retain responsibilities for tactical world-wide supplier marketing and work with Fanelli to implement the company's One Europe strategy and develop growth opportunities.
