Novelis is investing $2.5 million at its Warrington aluminum beverage cans recycling plant in the United Kingdom. The investment enables the plant to raise capacity to recycle beverage cans by 25%. In the first nine months of 2005, the operation recycled six billion beverage cans, establishing a new plant record. In 2004, Novelis recycled more than 30 billion cans, making the Atlanta-based company the world's largest recycler of aluminum beverage containers. Novelis, which was spun off by Montreal-based aluminum giant Alcan in January, is the global leader in aluminum rolled products with 36 operating plants in 11 countries and more than 13,000 employees.
