More Airline Mergers

Airline turbulence is far from over, says The Kiplinger Washington Editors newsletter. Despite the recent run of profits, airlines are $40 billion in debt and there still are too many players causing cutthroat competition. The newsletter says that "any economic bump will thin the ranks, forcing shaky carriers into shotgun weddings." Some possible pairings: Northwest and Delta, American and Alaska, and Frontier and AirTran.
