World crude steel production was 109.3 million metric tons in April, a 7.6% increase from last year's tonnage. International Iron and Steel Institute data shows rate of growth the strongest in China at 16.5% and Brazil (12.1%), followed by India (5.7%), South Korea (4.3%), Japan (4.1%) and the Ukraine (3.6%).
