Power Surge is Possible

There will be strong demand for electricity for cooling this summer in the nation's most populous regions, the Energy Information Administration forecasts. Reason: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration expects above-normal temperatures over most of the U.S. in July, August and September. Upshot: Utilities may need to use so-called "peaking power plants" this summer to meet electrical power demand. And that could boost prices of electricity for all user groups.
